Papa John’s Is The First National Pizza Chain To Announce Elimination Of Artificial Flavors And Synthetic Colors From Entire Food Menu
Papa John’s International, Inc. has become the first pizza chain in the nation to remove a popular ingredient from its entire menu. The move to no longer use high fructose corn syrup in pizza ingredients, toppings, dessert items and sauce selections is part of the “Better Ingredients, Better Pizza” mantra, which seeks to use healthy, quality ingredients.
For over 30 years, Papa John’s has been committed to serving only the highest quality ingredients and removing as many unwanted ingredients as possible.
In January, all artificial flavors and synthetic colors were removed from menu items. Papa John’s backed up its gold standard commitment by introducing the Quality Guarantee: If you don’t love your pizza, tell us why and we’ll deliver another one absolutely free.
In late 2015, Papa John’s Senior Vice President Sean Muldoon announced the company’s commitment to serve chicken raised without antibiotics and to making 2016 artificial-flavor and synthetic-color free. He stated, “We’re so proud to be able to show our customers how much we care about what they’re eating. This exemplifies Papa John’s continued efforts to deliver high-quality products. It’s the right thing to do.”

Papa John’s has started off 2016 with NO artificial flavors, NO synthetic colors, and by summer, the chicken in Papa John’s grilled chicken pizza toppings and chicken poppers will be raised without human and animal antibiotics, as well as fed a vegetarian diet.
These, of course, join Papa John’s current “NO” list of: NO trans-fats, NO MSG, NO fillers in core meat toppings, NO BHA, NO BHT, and NO partially hydrogenated oils.
